Port Moody Brews Big at the 2019 BC Beer Awards
It was a big evening for Port Moody breweries on Saturday 19 October 2019 when the awards for the tenth annual BC Beer Awards were handed out in Vancouver.
The sold out event celebrates the very best craft beer brewed in British Columbia during BC Craft Beer Month. This year, forty-five of BC’s best breweries vied for honours in over thirty categories.
All of Port Moody’s breweries were represented on the podium including the newest addition, The Bakery Brewing, which secured third place in the “UK Stout” category with its Cold Steeped Irish Stout.
Fresh off their fifth year anniversary celebrations, Moody Ales took top spot in the”Smoke- & Wood-Aged Beer” for The Great Gratzer.
The Parkside Brewery’s Dreamboat Hazy IPA took third place in the “Hazy IPA” category.
Twin Sails Brewing came in second place in the “Spice Beer” category with its Flex Mex and brought home accolades as “Innovator of the Year.”
Yellow Dog Brewing, also celebrating its fifth year in operation, took top honours from amongst ninety-one entries in the “Speciality IPA” category with its Ferocious Wild IPA, while also taking second in the “Specialty Wild Ale” with its Noble Blend Mixed Culture Saison and rounding out the awards with a third place finish in the competitive “North American IPA” category with its Play Dead IPA.
With the coming arrival of Fraser Mills Fermentation to Port Moody’s craft brewery landscape, the 2020 BC Beer Awards is already looking promising for even more success.
